Human remains were found behind the old Lenoir Mall along Â鶹´«Ã½ Boulevard on Tuesday.
An autopsy and a DNA analysis are being performed to identify the person and how the person died, the Lenoir Police Department said.
The remains have not been publicly identified as of 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
The remains were discovered Tuesday afternoon in a wooded area behind 1023 Â鶹´«Ã½ Blvd. in Lenoir.
