A man was charged with driving while impaired after a head-on wreck in Â鶹´«Ã½ late Thursday.
Officers were called to 307 Jamestown Road around 9:24 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, for a head-on crash with injuries, according to information from the Â鶹´«Ã½ Department of Public Safety.
Responding officers found that Alvin Melvin Biggerstaff was driving south on Jamestown Road when his vehicle crossed the center line and hit a northbound vehicle head-on, causing significant damage to both cars, public safety said.
Biggerstaff, 66, of Granite Falls, had an open container of alcohol, was unsteady on his feet and had slurred speech, public safety said.
Biggerstaff and the other driver were both taken to a local hospital for possible internal injuries, public safety said.Â
Biggerstaff was charged with driving while impaired, open container of alcohol, no operator's license and failure to maintain lane control, public safety said. He was issued a custody released and is due to appear in court on April 7.
