A 911 call reported a possible active shooter at McDowell High School Tuesday morning. The sheriff's office found no victims and no threat as of 9 a.m.
The 911 came from an anonymous caller at 8:11 a.m., according to a press release from the McDowell County Sheriff's Office. Local, states and federal law enforcement searched the building and found no threat. The sheriff's office said no shots have been heard and the situation is stable.
Students from McDowell High and West McDowell Middle School were dismissed at 10 a.m., a release from McDowell County Schools said.
