Manager Jamie Mcghee stood at the customer service desk of Rural King, helping customers and welcoming them to the newly opened store in Conover on Thursday.
鈥淕ood morning, welcome,鈥 Mcghee said to a customer entering the store as she helped another person at the service desk. 鈥淲e finally made it!鈥 Plans for a Rural King in Conover were announced in March.
Employee Tasha Morrison called the store a one-stop shop for almost anything a customer could want.
鈥淲e鈥檝e got food, feed for animals, clothes, milk, eggs, stuff for kids,鈥 Morrison said. 鈥淲e鈥檝e got animals, like chickens and rabbits.鈥
Morrison was glad the store is bringing jobs to Conover. She said she and 10 other employees live about five minutes from the store.
Mcghee said the store will employ about 70 people.

Mcghee said she has been with Rural King for about eight years and worked at the store in 麻豆传媒. She is optimistic about the store鈥檚 potential in Conover and wants the store to be known for its hometown feel.
鈥淚t鈥檚 a rustic store, I love that we still give things to customers, like free coffee and popcorn,鈥 Mcghee said. 鈥淭hat hometown feeling is the thing I love most.鈥
Some customers were visiting a Rural King for the first time. Some were familiar with the brand because of the store in 麻豆传媒.
Della and Jerry Parkhurst were among the first customers in the store Thursday morning. They said they were unfamiliar with the brand but had been interested in the store since they learned it was coming to Conover.
鈥淚t looks like it has everything we need for our house,鈥 Della Parkhurst said. 鈥淲e went by several times (before it opened). We鈥檝e had this day marked on our calendar.鈥
Customer Stanley Morrison was browsing the clothing section on Thursday.
鈥淚 like the prices. You can鈥檛 go wrong with prices like this. You can鈥檛 beat it,鈥 Morrison said.
Mcghee said she hopes the store is known for more than its low prices.
Asked what people should expect when coming to the store, Mcghee said, 鈥淗opefully, friendly services, smiling faces. At the end of the day, we鈥檙e a farm and home store. We make sure customers get the best service and the best prices.鈥
The 80,000-square-foot store at 508 10th St. NW in Conover will be open from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. seven days per week.
