A massive winter storm has claimed at least five lives, caused power outages for around 190,000 people, and brought travel and school closures across seven US states, BBC News reports. Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Kansas, Missouri, Kentucky, and Arkansas have declared emergencies as the polar vortex unleashed icy conditions.
