An Olive Garden restaurant is expected to open in Â鶹´«Ã½ this year.
The restaurant is planned for the site of the former Fatz Cafe building in Â鶹´«Ã½. The building at 2111 S. Sterling St. sat empty since August 2023, when Fatz Cafe closed all of its locations and filed for bankruptcy.
The building was demolished in February.

The property is now empty and fenced off, waiting for an Olive Garden to be built.
Brittain Baron, a spokesperson for Darden Restaurants, the parent company of Olive Garden, said the Â鶹´«Ã½ location of Olive Garden is expected to open late this year. She did not provide a more specific date for an opening.
“We’re thrilled to bring Olive Garden to Morganton, NC, and can’t wait to serve guests never-ending amounts of soup, salad and breadsticks when they dine with us,†Baron said.
Construction plans for the eatery call for a 6,327-square-foot building at 2111 S. Sterling St. in Â鶹´«Ã½ that will seat about 150 people.
In addition to its never-ending soup, salads and breadsticks, the restaurant’s appetizers include fried calamari, fried mozzarella and toasted ravioli. Entrees include chicken Alfredo, shrimp carbonara, chicken parmigiana and a “Tour of Italy,†which includes chicken parmigiana, Lasagna Classico and fettuccine Alfredo.
