A Â鶹´«Ã½ attorney will be sitting on the judge’s bench in Burke, Caldwell and Catawba counties after he was appointed to fill a judicial vacancy.

Matthew Cabe has been appointed as a District Court judge for Judicial District 36, covering Burke, Caldwell and Catawba counties, North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein announced Wednesday.
Cabe is filling the vacancy left after Judge Sherri Elliott was appointed to the Superior Court, Stein’s office said.
“Matt has more than two decades of experience as an attorney in the 36th District, and I am proud to appoint him to the district court,†Stein said. “As a Â鶹´«Ã½ native and an experienced litigator, he is the right person for the job, and I look forward to his service.â€
Cabe most recently worked as a solo practitioner at his law office in Â鶹´«Ã½. He previously worked at the Law Office of Bob Ledford. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with both his bachelor of arts and his juris doctor degrees.
