Police said a modified muffler landed a Â鶹´«Ã½ man a jail stay on drug and gun charges late Monday night.
Dustin Michael Duckworth, 38, was charged with possess, sell or buy altered gun serial number, possession of a controlled substance in prison or jail, driving with a suspended license, carrying a concealed weapon, improper muffler and failure to secure a child passenger in a seat belt, according to information from the Â鶹´«Ã½ Department of Public Safety.
It was late Monday when Sgt. Joey Belanger pulled over an Audi sedan with a modified muffler driving near Burkemont Avenue near Interstate 40, public safety said. Duckworth was found to be driving the vehicle with a suspended license, public safety said. A young child was in the vehicle without an age-appropriate seat belt in use.
Duckworth was asked to step out of the car and a 9 mm Sig Sauer pistol was found in the center console, public safety said. The serial number had been removed from the gun.

Duckworth was taken to the Burke County Jail where jail Sgt. L. Newton saw and stopped him from swallowing a plastic bag with 14 hydrocodone pills inside it, public safety said. Duckworth was also found to be in possession of a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine, public safety said.
Duckworth was held without bond pending a judge’s review, according to public safety. He’s due in court Friday, Dec. 27.
