The Hickory Crawdads will take the field on April 4 in Kannapolis to kick off the 2025 season. Hickory’s home opener at L.P. Frans is set for April 8 against Augusta.

Carlos Maldonado, manager
Maldonado currently resides in Maracaibo, Venezuela. He is starting his sixth season in the Texas Rangers organization, the third with the club’s Low-A affiliate after spending the last two seasons at Down East.
Maldonado has led teams to the playoffs in three of the previous five years and has had a winning record all five years (254-182 overall). He led Down East to a 65-63 record in 2024. He has been a coach in the Rangers organization from 2016-2018 after playing professional baseball for 18 seasons.
Brian Pozos, hitting coach

Pozos currently resides in Burbank, California. He is returning for his third season at the Low-A level after spending the last two seasons at Down East. Prior to that, he joined the Rangers in 2022 as the hitting coach in the Arizona Complex League. He played two seasons each of collegiate baseball at the University of Portland and Cal. State Chico (2017-18). His coaching career began in 2020 as the hitting/infield coach at Los Angeles Valley College.
Landon Hutchinson, pitching coach
Hutchinson is a native of Baltimore, Ohio. This is his first professional season in professional baseball. He was the head coach for three seasons at NCAA Division II Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio. Prior to that, he was the pitching coach at the University of Indianapolis. He played college baseball at the University of Rio Grande (Ohio).
Wes Hunt, development coach
Hunt currently resides in Rosenberg, Texas. This is his second season with the Texas Rangers at the Low-A level after spending last season at Down East. He came to the Rangers organization from El Paso Community College.
Jorge Cortes, development coach
Cortes is a native of Barranquilla, Colombia. This is his second season with the Texas Rangers at the Low-A level after spending last season at Down East. Prior to joining the Rangers, Cortes was with the Arizona Diamondbacks system from 2016-2023. He was the hitting coach for Team Colombia in the 2023 World Baseball Classic. He played professionally from 1997 through 2015. He won the 2003 South Atlantic League MVP award as a member of the Crawdads with the Pittsburgh Pirates organization.
Garrett Enders, athletic trainer
Enders currently resides in Surprise, Arizona. This is his fifth season in the Texas Rangers organization, the first at the Low-A level and the Crawdads. He was the Rangers’ rehab trainer last season. Prior to that, he was with the Dominican Summer League team in 2022-23 and an intern at Low-A Down East in 2021.
Mauro Castillo, strength and conditioning
Castillo currently resides in Surprise, Arizona. This is his third season in the Texas Rangers organization, the first at the Low-A level and the Crawdads. He was with the Arizona Complex League team the previous two seasons.
